Ahmedabad: Woman cheated of Rs 51 lakh by father-son jeweller duo

AHMEDABAD: A woman Urmila Patel, 47, has lodged a complaint against father-son duo of Jigar Soni and his son Rasik Soni on Thursday for cheating her of Rs 51 lakh. Inspector of Ramol police station said that they are searching for the father-son duo as they have vanished after closing their shop, Shreeji jewellers located at Mahadev Tekra in Vastral.
According to police sources, the complainant had given jewellery and Rs 35 lakh to the father-son duo to make jewellery for her daughter’s marriage about two years ago. Inspector Dave said the complaint had given a total of jewellery and cash worth Rs 52 lakh to the accused.
"However, as the period of the two had passed, the complainant often went to their shop and demanded the jewellery she had ordered to make for her daughter’s marriage, but the accused kept giving her dates. On Thursday when she went to the shop she found that it was closed and the father-son duo had even locked their house in Vastral and vanished. When she told this development to her husband they lodged a complaint against the accused. We are searching for the accused” added Inspector Dave.
